Planning to Learn 

Your eighth grade teachers welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year!

Proper organization will help you on your path to greater confidence, a better school year, and more time for the things you like to do. In order to experience a solid beginning to your eighth grade year, you will need the following materials for the first week of school.

1.     One (1) three ring binders (2 inch)

2.     A supply of lined paper

3.     One 5 pack of dividers for binder

4.     3 subject notebook

5.     One Texas Instruments scientific calculator (TI30XIIS is recommended)*

 (Can use calculator from Grades 6 & 7)

6.     A supply of blue or black pens and red pens

7.     A supply of pencils

8.     A supply of highlighters

9.     One (1) set of colored pencils

10.  4 packs of post-its (standard size)

11.  6 Pocket Folders

12.  A supply of graph paper

13.  Earbuds (to use with laptop)

14.  One marble composition book

15.  A valid River Vale public library card

*All Algebra students will be encouraged to use a graphing calculator. While this is not a requirement, it is highly recommended.

Physical Education Requirements:

o   Footwear – Athletic sneakers with good supports are recommended

o   Sneakers must have laces, and students must wear socks

Band Student Requirements:

o   Instrument in good working order, proper accessories (i.e. reeds, valve oil, guitar picks, sticks, etc.) and a box of pencils.
