Assistant Principal

Holdrum Middle School
"Home of the Hawks"

Dear Holdrum Middle School Families,

It is truly an honor to be the Assistant Principal of Holdrum Middle School. The overwhelming sense of family throughout the district has been apparent in all my interactions with community members from the start. I am both humbled and inspired to work within a culture where education prepares students with life skills to become informed, empathetic and innovative citizens. I eagerly await a wonderful year filled with new relationships, experiences, and learning everyday.

Holdrum’s progressive educational philosophy is embodied in the District’s Portrait of a Graduate. Students are encouraged to define and discover their passions while creating meaningful connections to the world around them. Offering opportunities for students to collaborate with teammates, communicate thoughts, cultivate their creativity and think critically are important goals at Holdrum. Student centered pedagogies allow for deep inquiry and active involvement in constructing meaning. These lessons establish a foundation necessary for students to succeed.

Consistent expectations help students become accountable for their actions, and promote pride in their learning and personal development. Building an understanding of social and emotional learning will help students develop emotional intelligence, responsible decision making, self awareness, and relationship skills. Students will clarify their sense of a positive purpose through ongoing reflection, feedback and improvement.

Student voice and student choice are of utmost importance to ensure their talents flourish at Holdrum. While immersing themselves in the culture of the school, students will find many ways to get involved and make a positive impact on the community. Extra-curricular clubs target student interest and motivate learners to reach new levels of understanding outside of the classroom. Sports, music, art, theater, and technology are just a few of the many enriching activities offered to Holdrum students. A full list of available options can be found on our website. Participating in these interactive programs will offer students real world experiences, while actively pursuing their passions.

Preparing students to be 21st Century thinkers can only be accomplished by utilizing 21st Century tools. Access to technology will aid students on their path towards innovation. Chromebooks, 3D printers, video production and coding programs will help students become creators of information, not just consumers. Enhanced learning environments promote perfect avenues for communicating effectively, collaborating efficiently, and creatively designing solutions to critical problems.

There is something beautiful about the endless possibilities of a new school year. Working alongside a devoted and talented staff, motivated and independent students, and caring and dedicated families fills me with excitement. Our students’ success academically, socially and personally will benefit from a strong partnership among all team members. In order to reach our goal of student success, communication is imperative. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions, comments or concerns. Here’s to a fantastic year!

Sincerely,

Justin Jasper
